MARPLE LOCKS FESTIVAL

2004 saw the bi-centenary of Marple Locks. In order that this impressive anniversary did not pass un-noticed a group of interested people got together to mark the occasion by organising a day of activities and events, thus was born the Marple Locks Heritage Society. The Marple Locks Bi-centenary celebrations were a massive success and were attended by thousands of people from both around the local area and afar.

The day was such a success that the society decided to continue and, as part of their future plans, organise a Marple Locks Festival in 2005. This time a musical theme was decided upon and live music of different varieties was enjoyed throughout the day. Again the public responded to the call and another fantastic day, aided by terrific weather, was had by all.

The Locks Festival has since been held on a bi-annual basis and plans are already underway for the next one in 2013.
